Meta bid strategies explained

ScaleShield Guides · ~6 min read

Your bid strategy tells Meta how aggressively to spend for results. Choosing the wrong one wastes budget; choosing the right one scales cleanly.

The three you’ll actually use

Highest Volume

Spend the full budget to get the most results, without a cost target. Best for learning phase and pure volume — but cost per result can drift as you scale.

Cost Per Result (Cost Cap)

Aim to keep your average cost around a target. More control than Highest Volume while still allowing volume — the workhorse for most scaling.

Bid Cap

A hard ceiling on each bid in the auction. Maximum control, but too low a cap starves delivery — use it when you know your numbers cold.

Common mistake: setting a Bid Cap so low that spend flatlines, then blaming the account. Start with Highest Volume to gather data, then tighten.

Give your strategy a stable home

Bidding only works on accounts that stay live to learn.
